The people behind Kohtas

Kohtas was founded in Helsinki in 2020 by a group of founders who had already built several marketplaces together.

Hannu Valkonen

CEO & Co-founder

Hannu co-founded Kohtas in 2020, built the company as its COO from Helsinki and New York, and has led it as CEO since 2025. He is a serial founder with 25 years of building digital products and marketplaces: his Color Planner app reached the top 10 of the Finnish App Store with 2.7 million installations in over 40 countries, and he has since founded and run several consumer and B2B marketplaces, including as COO of an online marketplace for machine-vision apps. Kohtas applies that platform experience to regulation: Big4-produced legality intelligence delivered as a transaction-level API.

Henri Nousiainen

COO & Co-founder

Henri co-founded Kohtas in 2020 and led its tax and legal operations before becoming COO in 2025. A lawyer by training, he has designed and built the legal structure of online marketplaces — agreements, taxation, intellectual property and data protection — and headed operations at an insurtech start-up. His earlier career includes PwC Finland and Susiluoto Attorneys-at-Law. At Kohtas he is responsible for operations and for how legislation is turned into verifiable, transaction-level requirements.
